Stable's Routine

After work...I visit my horse Romeo. EVERY day...I serve him, the equine God in my life...When I clean his stall, I am in a "zone". Here, the raven community lives on the land above the horses. The black "barn cat" greets me...appreciating any attention we have for him. This is also his feline home, his territory. We feed him, he enjoys our connections, he purrs and we play. My eyes soften, there is a change in my sense of time.  I stop to visit with the filly next to Romeo. I watch the interaction between horses.

Romeo loves to get out of his stall and walk around the stables to visit the other horses, nibble on what food he can find, and otherwise explore the grounds.

The stable's herd, equines each looking out of their prospective stalls...how I wish they were all free...at least in an open pasture.

  2. I love the sensory images of this blog. I feel I am at the barn with Karen - seeing, smelling, hearing, and drinking in all of the every day goings on that make being around horses so very special for all of us. Thank you, Karen!
